Kripa Suresh

I’m Kripa Suresh, a freelance photojournalist from Kerala, India, currently contributing to international publications such as The Times, UK. My journey behind the lens began at the age of 11, when photography first became my language of curiosity and connection. What started as a fascination soon grew into a lifelong pursuit, to tell stories that are intimate, emotional, and deeply human.

Before pursuing photography professionally, I earned the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award for English Language and Literature in high school, an early recognition that shaped my love for storytelling and visual narrative. I later graduated in English Language and Literature from Kerala University and completed my formal training in Photojournalism at the prestigious Spéos International School of Photography in Paris, as the recipient of the France Excellence Charpak Master Scholarship (2024), offered by the Institut Français en Inde, Embassy of France.

My internship with The Hindu in Trivandrum grounded me in the discipline of documentary storytelling, while my cultural roots in Kerala continue to guide my perspective, rich, layered, and deeply connected to place. Over the past decade, my work has been exhibited in galleries and digital showcases across Stockholm, New York, and Greece. I have been recognized as one of Sony’s highlighted young photographers (Youth Category, 2019) and am a three-time winner of the Kerala University Photography Competition. In 2024, I received the First Prize for Spot Photography at the National Youth Festival.

Rooted in culture and driven by curiosity, my photography explores the intersections of tradition, identity, and everyday life, particularly within the Indian experience. Through my images, I strive to shed light on the loud yet unheard, the living yet unseen; to craft visual stories that feel both personal and universal. Curious and determined, I bring the same energy to every frame, whether I’m documenting a fleeting emotion or uncovering a story that deserves to be seen.
